Ring light — which size for what and how to set it up
A ring light is an LED ring the camera looks through: light hits the face from all sides, shadows vanish, skin looks even and the eye keeps that signature circle. Size by purpose
- 9–16 cm (mini, clip-on or tripod) — selfies, laptop video calls, night photos. Powered by USB or battery.
- 26 cm with desk tripod — desk, video calls, unboxing, make-up. The best-selling home size.
- 33–36 cm with a tripod up to 2 m — standing shots, TikTok, hair and beauty salons, products. The creator standard.
- 45 cm — studio and full body; needs a sturdier tripod and a socket nearby.
- MagSafe LED lamp — snaps onto the back of an iPhone; for shooting on the move, nights out and night selfies.
Colour and brightness
A good ring light has three colours: warm (3200K, evening mood), neutral (4500K) and cool (5600K, daylight, most accurate skin tone) and 10 brightness levels. RGB models add colours for TikTok effects and backgrounds. Place the light at eye level, 50–80 cm from the face; if it is too bright, lower the level rather than moving the lamp away.
Power and setup
Ring lights of 26 cm and up are USB-powered — from a phone charger, power bank or laptop (no battery in the lamp). The tripod has a 1/4" thread, so a phone or camera fits on it too. Which ring light size do I need?

How is a ring light powered?
Over USB — from a phone charger (5 V/2 A), power bank or laptop; there is no battery in the lamp. Mini 9–16 cm models have a built-in rechargeable battery.
Which light colour is best for the face?
Neutral to cool (4500–5600K) gives the most accurate skin and make-up tones; warm (3200K) for an evening mood. Place the light at eye level, 50–80 cm from the face, and lower the brightness rather than moving the lamp away.
Do a tripod and phone holder come with the lamp?
On models marked "with tripod" yes — the tripod and holder are in the box; for lamps without a tripod you need one with a 1/4" thread (all ours fit). Stated in the product description.
