A watch is worn for years, but the strap changes with the occasion: silicone for training, leather or metal for work, nylon for summer. How to choose a strap that fits

For Apple Watch choose by case size (38/40/41 mm or 42/44/45/49 mm — straps within a group are interchangeable). For Samsung and most Android watches the strap width is 20 mm or 22 mm — stated in the watch listing or measured on the old strap where it meets the case. Mi Band and Huawei Band have their own system per generation (Band 7 ≠ Band 8).

Materials

• Silicone — sport, water, everyday; washable, does not absorb sweat.
• Nylon / fabric — lightest and breathable; summer.
• Leather — office and evenings; not for training.
• Metal (Milanese loop, links) — elegant, heavier; the Milanese loop adjusts without tools.

Protection and charging

A glass protector or bumper case saves the watch screen from door frames — a watch screen costs as much to replace as a phone's. A spare charger for work or the car saves carrying one around. Take a charger marked for your exact model — Apple, Samsung and Huawei use different magnetic chargers.
