Power bank — what capacity and what power

A portable battery is chosen by two numbers: how many times it charges the phone and how fast. Everything else — colour, percentage display, torch — is taste. At MobileLand power banks are grouped by capacity and by whether they have fast (PD) and wireless (magnetic) charging.

Capacity: how many phone charges

• 5,000 mAh — one phone charge; slim, pocketable; magnetic versions for iPhone and MagSafe cases.
• 10,000 mAh — two full charges or phone + earbuds; the best size-to-capacity ratio, cabin-bag friendly.
• 20,000 mAh — a weekend off-grid, a tablet or two phones; heavier (350–450 g).
• 30,000 mAh and up — camping, a laptop over USB-C PD; check airline rules (up to 100 Wh without approval).

You realistically get about 60–70 % of the rated capacity: 10,000 mAh charges a phone with a 5,000 mAh battery one and a half times, not twice — that is voltage conversion physics, not a product flaw.

Power: how fast it charges

10–12 W (USB-A) charges a phone in 2–3 hours. 20–22.5 W PD gets an iPhone or most Androids to 50 % in half an hour — the minimum worth buying today. 45–65 W charges a laptop too. A power bank with a built-in cable solves the forgotten-cable problem; a magnetic (MagSafe) one snaps onto an iPhone with no cable.
