Computer cables and adapters — HDMI, USB-C, VGA

Half of all "my monitor / TV / projector does not work" problems are a cable or adapter that does not match. Connectors change every few years while devices last ten, so an adapter is often cheaper than a new device. At MobileLand cables are sorted by connector type and length, and each listing states the supported resolution and speed.

Video: HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI

• HDMI — TV, monitor, projector; HDMI 2.0 for 4K at 60 Hz, HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120 Hz and 8K (PS5, Xbox Series X, gaming PC).
• DisplayPort — PC monitors, especially gaming at 144 Hz and above.
• VGA / DVI — older monitors and projectors; an HDMI→VGA adapter must be active (with a chip), a plain cable does not work.
• USB-C → HDMI — laptops and phones without an HDMI port; the laptop needs USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode (a monitor symbol next to the port).

USB-C hubs and docks

Thin laptops have two USB-C ports and nothing else. A 5-to-8-in-1 hub adds HDMI, USB-A, a card reader, LAN and charging through the same port (Power Delivery up to 100 W). For two monitors look for a hub with two HDMI/DP outputs and check the laptop supports two external screens (MacBook Air M1/M2 supports one).

Cat 6 LAN cables for gigabit up to 50 m; extension and power cables for monitors and PCs (C13 "kettle", C5 "Mickey Mouse" for laptop chargers). UK/US plug adapters for devices bought abroad.
