Which charger for an iPhone — a guide by model

Since iPhone 12 Apple no longer includes a charger in the box, and the old 5 W cube charges a new phone for three hours. The right iPhone charger is a simple choice once you know two things: which model you have and which port it has. At MobileLand this page has every charger that works with an iPhone — wall chargers, kits with a cable and car chargers.

By iPhone model

iPhone 15, 16 and newer — USB-C port; a 20 W PD charger + USB-C to USB-C cable. Charges to 50 % in about 30 minutes.
iPhone 8 to 14 (including SE 2/3, X, XR, 11, 12, 13) — Lightning port; a 20 W PD charger + USB-C to Lightning cable. Same charging pace.
iPhone 7 and older — Lightning, no fast charging; any 5–12 W USB-A charger + USB-A to Lightning cable works.

How many watts an iPhone needs

An iPhone charges at about 20–27 W max (Pro Max models slightly more). A 20 W charger is nearly as fast as 30 W; a stronger charger (45–65 W GaN) only makes sense if you charge an iPad or MacBook from the same one. A stronger charger cannot harm the phone — the iPhone draws only what it needs.

PD, MFi and the cable

Fast charging needs a USB-C PD charger — old USB-A chargers with the QC standard charge an iPhone slowly. A USB-C to Lightning cable must work without the "accessory not supported" message; ours do and carry a 12-month warranty. MagSafe wireless charging (15 W) needs a MagSafe puck and a 20 W+ PD charger. For the car: a 20 W+ USB-C PD car charger and a short cable — see also holders with MagSafe charging.

24–48 h delivery across Montenegro, cash on delivery, 12-month warranty. Not sure which port you have — look at the bottom of the phone: a thin oval opening is Lightning, a rounded rectangle is USB-C.

Which charger is best for an iPhone?

A 20 W USB-C PD charger. An iPhone charges at about 20–27 W max, so 20 W is nearly as fast as a pricier 30 W. Pair it with a USB-C to Lightning cable (iPhone 8–14) or USB-C to USB-C (iPhone 15 and newer).

Can a stronger charger (45 or 65 W) damage an iPhone?

No — the iPhone draws only what it needs. A stronger charger makes sense if you also charge an iPad, MacBook or Samsung from it; otherwise 20 W is enough.

Does a Samsung charger work with an iPhone?

Yes, if it is USB-C PD — any PD charger fast-charges an iPhone (20 W). You just need the right cable: USB-C to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C. Old Samsung USB-A chargers (adaptive fast charging) charge an iPhone slowly.

The cable says "this accessory is not supported" — what do I do?

The cable lacks a proper chip or is damaged. Our cables work with current iOS and carry a 12-month warranty — bring the cable with the receipt and we replace it.
