USB-C cable — 3 A or 5 A, and why that decides charging speed

USB-C is now the port on everything: phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, iPhone 15+), tablets, laptops, earbuds. But a "USB-C cable" is not one product — the current the cable is rated for decides whether your 45 W charger works as 45 W or as 15 W. At MobileLand every cable lists its current (A), power (W) and whether it carries data.

Which end on the other side

  • USB-C to USB-C — for PD chargers (20–100 W), laptops and power banks with a USB-C output. The only choice for fast-charging new phones.
  • USB-A to USB-C — for older chargers, computers and car USB; charging up to 15–18 W, data transfer for photos.
  • USB-C to Lightning — iPhone 8–14; see Lightning cables.

3 A or 5 A

3 A (60 W) is enough for every phone, including Samsung 25 W and Xiaomi 33 W, and for tablets. 5 A / 100 W (a cable with an e-marker chip) is needed for laptops over USB-C, Samsung 45 W and Xiaomi 67/120 W — on a 3 A cable those devices charge slower with no warning. Unmarked cables are usually 2 A and throttle everything.

Data and video

Most charging cables carry data at USB 2.0 speed (480 Mb/s) — enough for photos and Android Auto. For an external SSD or a monitor over USB-C you need a cable marked USB 3.x / 10 Gb/s or Thunderbolt — different, pricier cables, stated in the listing.

Length and durability

1 m for desk and bed, 2 m when the socket is far, 25–50 cm for a power bank and the car. A braided cable with a reinforced neck lasts several times longer than a smooth one. 24–48 h delivery across Montenegro, cash on delivery, 12-month warranty.

Frequently asked questions

3 A or 5 A cable — which do I need?
3 A (60 W) for every phone and tablet — Samsung 25 W, Xiaomi 33 W, iPhone 15. 5 A / 100 W for laptops over USB-C, Samsung 45 W, Xiaomi 67/120 W. With a weaker cable the device charges slower with no warning.
Why does my phone charge slowly despite a fast charger and USB-C cable?
An unmarked cable is usually 2 A and throttles charging; take one rated 3 A or 5 A. Also check the phone port is clean — pocket lint blocks the connector.
Does every USB-C cable carry data?
No — many cheap ones are "charge only". For photos, Android Auto and external drives you need a data cable (USB 2.0 is enough for photos, USB 3.x for an SSD). Stated in the listing.
How do I pay and how long does delivery take?
Payment is cash on delivery; courier delivery across Montenegro takes 24–48 h from confirmation. You can also collect in one of the 7 MobileLand stores.
